Tapered roller bearings

Tapered roller bearings consist of inner and outer rings, between which tapered rollers are located. They are particularly suitable for combination loads as they can withstand both radial and axial forces. However, it should be noted that they can only absorb unidirectional axial loads, so they require precise alignment and careful adjustment. By arranging two tapered roller bearings in a mirror image, both-sided axial loads can be accommodated.

Many manufacturers already offer such paired single-row tapered roller bearings, which are pre-adjusted in a tapered roller unit to a defined axial clearance or a specific preload. In addition, there are double-row tapered roller bearings, which are also offered as pre-adjusted bearing units consisting of an inner ring with two roller rows in an X arrangement and a multi-part outer ring.

Tapered roller bearings are a specialized type of bearing that play an important role in various industrial sectors due to their ability to accommodate both radial and axial forces.
